Learning and Growing Together Our goal at HCC is to make Adult Sunday School the place that everyone wants to be for an hour each Sunday morning. Every quarter we will offer a variety of courses designed to appeal to both new or longtime participants. We invite you to visit a class or two each session, then make a commitment to attend for the remaining weeks. It is our hope that we will all increase in knowledge, mature in faith and grow in fellowship.

The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Units 2 & 3 of The Gospel Project) October 21 - November 25 Room 151 Nancy Jenkins-Heidarian, Donald Skidmore, Alan & Paula Messimer
In the past unit we were exposed to God’s good creation, human rebellion and the tragic consequences of the fall. But we have also seen God’s grace on display each step of the way. God was patiently bringing about His plan to provide redemption to humanity. In the following sessions, from October 21 to November 25, we will see that divine plan take a sizable step forward with the call of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. We will study the life of the life of the men who are commonly known as “the fathers of the faith”. We will see extraordinary steps of faith and tragic moments of sinfulness. We will see people who are conflicted and forsaking God. We will also see that even with all of their failings, God used this family to advance His plan to provide salvation to the world—not by their merit but by His mercy. We will see that God works in ways that are different from ours and that He is wise—He knows the best possible means to bring His plan to pass.
Sacred Parenting: How Raising Children Shapes our Souls October 21 - November 25 Room 133 Mary Etta Gale, Mark & Gina Mitchell
Parenting is a school for spiritual formation―and our children are our teachers. The journey of caring for, rearing, training, and loving our children will profoundly alter us forever. Sacred Parenting is unlike any other parenting class you have ever participated in. This is not a “how-to” class that teaches you ways to discipline your kids or help them achieve their full potential. Instead of discussing how parents can change their kids, Sacred Parenting turns the tables and demonstrates how God uses our kids to change us. You’ve read all the method books. Now take a step back and receive some much-needed inspiration. You’ll be encouraged by stories that tell how other parents handled the challenges and difficulties of being a parent―and how their children transformed their relationship with God. Sacred Parenting affirms the spiritual value of being a parent, showing you the holy potential of the parent-child relationship.
Newcomer's Class This class is open to anyone who has questions about HCC or Presbyterianism, in general. The class is led by Pastor Dale Patterson and includes visits by ministry leaders so that you can learn more about the life and work of HCC and opportunities for involvement. This is a great opportunity to get to know other newcomers to HCC. All new members are encouraged to attend. Instructor: Pastor Dale
GiftEd What if you possessed a gift your entire life, hidden from you, but perhaps obvious to others? Discover how God has gifted each of us with unique abilities, interests, experiences, gifts, and personality, perfectly calibrated for our particular circumstance, life journey, and relationships. GiftEd is a lively and interactive six-week course offered periodically throughout the year, a course to learn about our spiritual gifts and to be equipped to use those gifts in ministry. The class is offered at HCC during the adult education hour. Alan and Paula Messimer speak about how to discover the unique tools and spiritual gifts God has given us. One of the tools used can be found at http://archive.elca.org/evangelizingchurch/assessments/ Class size is limited, so sign up in the Narthex, contact the church office.
